Ageing is a normal process, and ageing skin is part of that process. There are two types of ageing: intrinsic ageing, caused by the genetic factors and  extrinsic ageing, caused by environmental factors.

Intrinsic ageing is a continuous process involving the degradation of the skin’s dermal matrix, composed of collagen, protein and glycosaminoglycans.  A number of extrinsic factors act together with the intrinsic ageing process to prematurely age skin including sun damage, environmental pollution and lifestyle factors such as an imbalanced diet, poor quality sleep and smoking.

How does it work?

There are a number of components found in the deeper layers of the skin that are essential for maintaining the quality, structure and appearance of the skin. By replenishing these components that naturally decrease with age, Taut® assists in improving the skin’s elasticity, density and hydration.

RDS® (Rapid Delivery System) Collagen is a premium, low molecular weight marine collagen.  Collagen, the main protein found in connective tissue is crucial for the skin’s strength and elasticity.  The degradation of collagen that accompanies ageing leads to loss of elasticity and skin density causing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  Supplementing with low-molecular weight collagen peptides has been shown in studies to improve collagen formation in the dermis of the skin resulting in smoother and firmer skin.

Shark Cartilage Extract is a natural source of collagen as well as glycosaminoglycans such as glucosamine and chondroitin. Glycosaminoglycans are present in the dermal layer of the skin where they provide structure to the skin and facilitate hydration.  Age related reduction of Glycosaminoglycans is associated with a reduction in the skin’s elasticity, density and hydration.  Replenishing these components enhances the skin’s firmness and luminosity.

Hyaluronic Acid is a glycosaminoglycan found naturally in food and occurring naturally in the dermal layer of the skin, where it provides structure to the skin and facilitates hydration.  The decrease in Hyaluronic Acid throughout the ageing process contributes to a decrease in the elasticity, density and hydration of the skin.  Supplementing with Hyaluronic acid replenishes what is naturally lost to restore skin moisture and radiance.

Ceramide, derived from Corn Extract, is a glycolipid naturally occurring in foods and is also natural component of the epidermal layer of the skin.  Ceramides play an essential role in skin barrier function, help the skin retain moisture and enables the skin to retain its elasticity.  As Ceramides decrease with age, supplementation assists hydration and prevents moisture loss, restoring luminous and glowing skin.

Antioxidant nutrients such as Beta Carotene, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Coenzyme Q10 provide overall defense from the free radical damage that contributes to skin damage and premature ageing.

Vitamins B1, B2 and B6, essential for skin renewal and regeneration processes, are also important for offsetting the effects of stress on the health of the skin.
